In the past years , India has made massive investments in Afghanistan for their development which are under threat as Taliban Rockets attack Salma Dam which was built by India , inaugurated by Honorable PM Shri Narendra Modi in 2016. It was one of the most expensive infrastructure projects by India in Afghanistan. It is also known as Afghan-India Friendship Dam(AIFD). Taliban has also warn to destroy this dam completely.

Salma dam (AIFD) is a hydroelectrical power project which is constructed on the Hari river in Herat province of Afghanistan. This dam has water capacity of 640 million cubic meters. This plant has a power generation capacity of 42 MW and is also can irrigate 75,000 hectares of agricultural lands. It took more than ten years to complete this project of Rs 1,775 crore project. It has been built by an Indian company WAPCOS limited. Due to security reasons and threat of Taliban , Indian engineers involved in this project kept on visiting the site once in a month by helicopter service provided by Government of Afghanistan.

Salma dam was attacked by Taliban in 2017 too in which 10 soldiers were killed. In the previous week also , it was attacked by Taliban and 16 security personnel were killed near that dam. Now , according to sources , checkpoint and its equipments was under control of Taliban.

According to the Khaama press - 'Rockets and artillery shells landed close to the dam but the dam itself is not hit yet." But it can be destroyed if Afghanistan keeps on increasing violence.

As a result , India's investments are in danger under Taliban like - Zaranj -Delaram highway , Afghanistan parliaments(90 million dollar investment) etc.
