In whole world , COVID vaccination is going on and the people are having careless approach towards the infection. In this context , The WHO's emergency committee on Thursday warns about more dangerous COVID variants. They said, " pandemic is not over yet and it will evolve further with 4 variants of concern."
The WHO said that there is strong possibility of the emergence and global spread of new more dangerous variants that will be more challenging to control. The pandemic is still an extraordinary event that continues to hurt public health so it is necessary to coordinate the whole world together. They also added that a new zoonotic disease may emerge during this pandemic.
This statement came between the outbreak of Delta variant cases that makes this statements of major concern. Earlier, WHO director general stated that Delta variant has been spread in more than 111 countries and it is expected that it will dominate the COVID-19 strain worldwide. He also highlighted that situation shall be worse in the poor countries who are struggling to vaccinate their citizens. COVID related death is again increasing after a decline of only ten days. Director also stressed that countries that were safe from first few waves can also be targeted by new upcoming deadly variant.
Indian Government, in press briefing, cleared that WHO's warning on 3rd wave can't be taken for granted. During this press conference regarding the coronavirus situation in country , Dr. VK Paul , Member-Health , Niti Aayog said ," situation in most of the region has turned from bad to worse and overall the world is moving towards a third wave of pandemic."
In the same press conference , Lav Agarwal , Joint Secretary , Union Health ministry said that according to analysis peoples are not taking precautions and there is decline in the use of face mask. We should have to use face mask in our life as a new normal and face mask is integral part of our daily life now. He also said,'' Our vaccines are fully safe and effective so it must be taken. But we can't be dependent on vaccine completely so we need to mask up as well."
Indian government said that next 100 days are very crucial. The world is moving towards a third wave and this is fact but we can stall the third wave and it is possible.
